Frequency Coordinating Wireless Intercom in the 1.9 GHz band with Riedel Bolero — PST #089
On PST #089, we discussed Riedel Bolero with tips for operation in congested RF environments. As the production environment shifts to higher numbers of wireless intercom users on live events and broadcasts, the need to cooperate with multiple systems in the 1.9 and 2.4 GHz spectrum is necessary.
We were joined by Dave Caulwell and Matthew Dietzler from Riedel. They shared tips and best practices for operating Bolero systems in challenging environments and took over 80 questions from our live audience.
As productions and sporting events become larger and more complex, so does the need for the production team to communicate during the events. A growing number of intercom users are demanding a wireless solution’s flexibility to perform their duties on these productions.
On top of that, coaches, referees, and non-production users are on the same frequencies. This puts the burden on frequency coordination to ensure everyone plays well together. The perceived challenge lately has been the coordination of this DECT spectrum. Both with Riedel Bolero alone, pushing past the DECT spectrum limits in an RF space, as well as Bolero in use alongside other non-Bolero DECT users.
Let’s talk about what it takes for awards shows and football championships to have 100s of DECT users in an environment while challenging some of the misinterpreted information in the industry.
